The wall is probably one of the least-known attractions at Pike Place Market, with no signs leading to it and with only scant mentions of it listed in tourist guides.
The wall got its start in the early 1990s, when patrons waiting in line began to park their gum and even attaching coins to them to pass the time. At first, the theater owners tried to clean up the gum but eventually gave up, leaving the unattended used wads to take a form and shapes all their own.
If you plan to visit this site and are leery of germs, packing some hand sanitizer might help you endure watching from a distance.
